The
Williamsfield Public Library District (WPLD) is a tax-supported public
library. This means people residing within the jurisdictional
boundaries of the Williamsfield Public Library District pay taxes to
support the library and, therefore, are entitled to a WPLD card without
further cost. Library cards are renewed every three years
without additional fees provided the library card holder continues to
reside within the jurisdictional boundaries of the WPLD.
Owning a
WPLD card provides the patrons access to any
and every public library in the
State of Illinois, as long as the card is current and the patron is in
good
standing with WPLD.
- Each member of a family
living within the district is entitled to one free library.
One
"replacement" card will be issued if and when needed. After a
second card is misplaced the patron will be asked to pay a
$5.00 replacement card fee.
- A patron may
physically take their WPLD card to another library and check materials
out. The materials checked out at another library are the
responsibility of the individual who borrows them, and are subject to
all of the fines, rules and regulations of the lending
library. Such
materials are not the responsibility of WPLD.
- Individuals
residing beyond the jurisdictional boundaries of the WPLD and
who do not own property in the those
boundaries may purchase a non-resident card in the amount
of $125.26. This fee entitles the entire family to use the
Williamsfield Public Library District, but NOT neighboring
libraries.
- An individual registering for a WPLD card may
find the correct library district in which they pay taxes on their
current
property tax form. Individuals may bring in their property
tax
form, a driver's license, utility bill, or other mail (which may or may
not be acceptable) that has their current
address as proof of residency.
- Children under 12 years of age must have a
parent's signature on the original library card application.
